Learn the Ataturk dam in the province of Urfa Shanley


Formerly called the Ataturk Dam Dam Karababa Karababa Dam, dam zoned rock fill with a central core on the Euphrates River.



The dam is located on the border between the province of Adıyaman Adıyaman and Şanlıurfa province of Şanlıurfa in southeastern Anatolia region of Turkey.



Built both to generate electricity and irrigate the plains in the region, it was renamed in honor of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (1881-1938), the founder of the Turkish Republic.

Construction began in 1983 and was completed in 1990, the dam and hydroelectric power station was run after the completion of the reservoir in 1992, and is the Ataturk Dam Lake is the third largest in Turkey.



The dam is located 23 km (14 mi) northwest Bozova Bozova Şanlıurfa Province, on the road from the international D.875 Bozova to Adıyaman.

The height of the dam 169 meters and a length of 1820 meters The hydroelectric power plant (HEPP) Fathoa eight turbines generate electricity capacity of 8 * 300 = 2400 megawatts.
The total cost of the dam project $ 1.25 billion.
